FBL Copyright and Data Management

An interactive website “Human Rights Fighters” was programmed for the interactive Fritz Bauer Library, which is maintained by our editorial staff. It allows the stories in the library to be evaluated in terms of certain categories, which go far beyond names, locations, and key words . The library is a research project, not a wiki or an encyclopedia. The FBL Database is a work in progress that allows us to recognize motives and factors that prompt individuals to fight for human rights. At the same time, it reveals the influences that support people in the defense of human rights.

In order to publish a story on the website of the “Human Rights Fighters” collection of the Fritz Bauer Library, authors log in using a password, upload the text of their story, documents, and images, then send them to the site editors with a click. This “click” authorizes the editor to publish the story. If questions arise, the FBL editors contact the authors, or consult with experts (Editorial Committee). The authors are responsible for their stories, and are named at the end of the story.

The copyright to the stories sent to the editors of the Fritz Bauer Library is thus transferred to the non-profit BUXUS STIFTUNG. In the case of elaborated stories, the editorial staff of the Fritz Bauer Library will only accept editorial changes and updating in consultation with the authors. The stories published by the FBL may only be copied and published elsewhere with the written consent of the BUXUS STIFTUNG GmbH.
